Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are temporarily down one member.

A post on Springsteen's website says saxophonist Jake Clemons has made an emergency trip back home to the U.S. following the death of his father, and didn't perform with the group in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday.

Jake's dad, Bill Clemons, was the brother of the E Street Band's legendary sax man Clarence Clemons, who passed away in 2011.  Jake is one of two sax players in Springsteen's current touring group, and saxophonist Eddie Manion is covering for Jake in his absence.

The Springsteen camp doesn't say when Jake will return to the tour.  The band will continue their Australian trek with a two-night stand in Hunter Valley this weekend.
